Exhibit at the American University in Dubai Campus,
October 19
EXHIBITION
On October 17, SustainabITALY departed from Rome to reach the campus of the American University in Dubai. The inauguration took place on October 23 in the halls of the EMBA building with an event titled “SustainabITALY”. During the opening ceremony, the President of the American University in Dubai, Kyle Long, welcomed with institutional greetings, followed by speeches from Edoardo Napoli, Italian Consul General in Dubai, Anna Cornaro, Director of the Department of Architecture at the American University in Dubai, Francesco Bedeschi, Director of the University of Arkansas Rome Program, and freelance architect Khadija Kouki Amri.
Anna Cornaro introduced the theme of sustainability, while Francesco Bedeschi gave a lecture titled “Italy’s Best Practices in Sustainable Architecture,” focusing on the projects displayed in the exhibition. Architect Kouki Amri presented the exhibition setup project in a talk titled “Designing for Exhibition”. The event, which began at 12:00 p.m., concluded at 1:30 p.m. following a discussion on the topics covered.
The exhibition was set up in the outdoor areas of the campus, and, as in similar cases in the United States, architecture students actively participated in assembling all the display elements. The setup was donated to the American University in Dubai, which will use it for future cultural events, allowing the exhibition to continue its lifecycle in the United Arab Emirates.
The SustainabITALY event in Dubai was made possible thanks to the essential and timely support of Professor Anna Cornaro, Director of the Department of Architecture at the American University in Dubai, to whom heartfelt thanks are extended for overseeing the project in all its stages, alongside her staff and the students who contributed to the setup.
